Flowers represent a powerful reproductive structure, considered to be largely responsible for the evolutionary success of flowering plants or angiosperms. The flower is usually composed of two reproductive organs, the carpels and the stamens, surrounded by protective and decorative organs, the sepals and the petals. Variations in the presence, number, color, and shape of these organs, and their associated scents, have driven coevolution with pollinators, resulting in accelerated speciation in both plants and insects.
